Not only striving in their studies and research, students of Da Nang University of Medical Sciences and Pharmacy also spread the spirit of love through many meaningful volunteer programs, demonstrating a beautiful and responsible ideal of living for the community.

Spreading the Spirit of Love
With the motto "From the Heart to Action," the Sao Xanh (Blue Star) Club, a prime example of youth volunteerism at Da Nang University of Medical Sciences and Pharmacy, has become a place connecting hundreds of student hearts towards less fortunate lives. On average, the club organizes 13-15 volunteer programs each year, ranging from trips to disadvantaged remote areas like Dac Pre (Nam Giang, Quang Nam) and Phu Tuc village (Hoa Vang, Da Nang), to sharing activities at social support centers and hospitals in Da Nang city.
Some notable activities include: the "Small Things" and "United Heartbeats" programs at Hoa Mai Center, where 100 gifts were given to orphaned children; "Loving Arms" and "Open Arms Wide" at the Da Nang Social Protection Center, involving cooking, interacting, and providing health care for over 80 lonely elderly individuals. At Da Nang Oncology Hospital, the club brought joy during the Mid-Autumn Festival through the "Moon Gazing Festival" program with 70 gifts for young patients, while also maintaining a community bookshelf through the "Star of Knowledge" project. Young children at the city's Orphanage Center also received essential supplies through the "Children's Smiles" program. Furthermore, at Hope Village and the Street Children Center, the "Warm Winter for You" and "Little Sun" activities brought warm meals, play spaces, laughter, and wholehearted sharing from volunteer hearts.
The club not only helps thousands of people in difficult circumstances find more joy in life but also profoundly educates students about social responsibility and medical ethics. Most recently, the "Sunshine on the Village" program was organized in March 2025, during Youth Month in Phu Tuc village, Hoa Phu commune, Hoa Vang district, with many practical and meaningful activities to support the local community, especially children. The program conducted measles screening for approximately 130 young children, combined with health education on how to recognize and prevent the disease. Additionally, students presented 130 gifts including candies, milk, notebooks, pens, and face masks to encourage the children. Notably, the program also donated a medical kit with basic medicines to the Phu Tuc school branch, contributing to improving local healthcare conditions for students in the remote area.
Mr. Dinh Vuong, Head of the Phu Tuc village Fatherland Front Committee, shared emotionally: "The 'Sunshine on the Village' activity held in Phu Tuc village last March truly left many emotions in the hearts of the people. The students of Da Nang University of Medical Sciences and Pharmacy brought a warm, joyful, and meaningful atmosphere to the village. I deeply appreciate the enthusiasm, thorough preparation, and hearts of the students. I hope that in the future, more meaningful activities like this will continue to spread to disadvantaged rural areas like Phu Tuc. On behalf of the villagers, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the University, the students, and the units that accompanied the program."
Sharing her feelings about the program, Ms. Truong Le Ngoc Nhi, Head of the Sao Xanh Club, confided: "This is how we learn to become good doctors." It is from these moving trips that the students have learned empathy, sharing, and love, and consider it as baggage for each individual when they become future doctors, living with deep affection and compassion, as beloved Uncle Ho once advised: "A doctor must be like a kind mother."
Regarding funding, Ngoc Nhi added: "To have operating funds, in addition to the support of benefactors and the companionship of businesses, the members of the club have also proactively initiated many activities such as fundraising sales and making and selling flowers and handmade items to tourists..."
Dr. Le Thi Thuy, Principal of Da Nang University of Medical Sciences and Pharmacy, highly appreciated the volunteer spirit of the students, considering it a prominent beauty in the University's educational environment. Dr. Thuy affirmed that community service activities not only demonstrate social responsibility but also contribute significantly to the education and character development of students. "University students have been doing a very good job in their role, spreading the spirit of sharing and love to those in difficult circumstances in society," she emphasized.
Affirming the Spirit of Youth in the New Era
Master of Science, Doctor Hoang Le Phi Bach - Secretary of the University Youth Union, shared: "Volunteer programs are not only journeys of love but also a way for students to affirm their bravery and role in the community in the new era." He said that the University Youth Union always proactively directs and supports student clubs and teams in organizing activities related to their medical and pharmaceutical expertise, so that "learning goes hand in hand with practice" becomes truly meaningful and practical. The Sao Xanh Club is one of the clubs assigned by the University Youth Union to take the lead in the volunteer and community service movement.
Notably, in the 2024-2025 academic year, the University's youth is expected to raise funds and implement programs with a total budget of up to 100 million VND, reaching out to help many people in difficult circumstances – an impressive figure demonstrating the persistence and seriousness in their journey for the community.
Without ostentation or noise, the volunteer footsteps of the students of Da Nang University of Medical Sciences and Pharmacy are still quietly sowing seeds of love. That is a vivid symbol of the spirit of Ho Chi Minh-era youth, knowing how to live for others, knowing how to dedicate themselves to ideals, and ready to step into the nation's era of growth with warm loving hearts and practical actions.
