International Workshop between Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy in collaboration with Kosin University and Yonsei University (South Korea)

On the afternoon of April 21, 2025, Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy, in collaboration with Kosin University and Yonsei University (South Korea), organized an international workshop on Enhancing School Health Capacity. Attendees included Professor Bae Sung Kwon - President of the Korean National Association for University Health Education; and Dr. Kwon In-Sook - Specialist at the Yonsei University Health Center. Representing Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy were: Dr. Nguyen Minh Son, MD - Vice Rector; Ms. Cao Bich Thuy, MSc, MD - Head of the Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation; lecturers specializing in School Health and Public Health; and school health staff from high schools in Da Nang City.


This workshop is a key event in a series of international collaborations, aimed at improving the quality of school health care in Vietnam through a comprehensive and standardized approach based on international models.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Nguyen Minh Son, MD - Vice Rector of Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy, emphasized: "We hope this workshop will not only serve as an exchange of knowledge but also pave the way for long-term collaborative programs, gradually standardizing the school health model to suit the Vietnamese context.


Shaping a Comprehensive School Health Strategy

At the workshop, domestic and international experts presented on four key topics focusing on practical issues, including:

  • Prevention and Control of Infections in Healthcare in South Korea, presented by Professor Bae Sung Won - Kosin University;
  • Strengthening Infection Control Capacity in Schools, presented by Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Trieu - Lecturer, Faculty of Nursing;
  • Enhancing Capacity for School Health Personnel, shared by Dr. Kwon In Sook - Yonsei University;
  • Da Nang School Health: Proactive Prevention, Ready Response, presented by Dr. Tran Minh Huan, MD, PhD - Lecturer, Faculty of Public Health.

Notably, the group discussion sessions recorded numerous direct insights from school health staff regarding practical challenges and proposals for policy, organizational, and personnel innovation to meet the increasingly complex demands of school health care.

Laying the Foundation for Long-Term Cooperation and Developing School Health Human Resources

The workshop was recognized as an important step, not only creating a bridge between Vietnamese and Korean experts but also contributing to shaping the training strategy and capacity building of the school health workforce in Vietnam, with a focus on collaboration between health, education, and social work within schools.

Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy expressed its desire to develop interdisciplinary training programs, applied research, and the transfer of school health management models suitable for the specific characteristics of different regions.
