19-05-2025

On May 16, 2025, the University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy, Da Nang (DUMTP), had the honor of welcoming a monitoring delegation from the Inclusion I Project. The delegation included representatives from the Political Section of the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam—which currently oversees USAID development programs—along with the Inclusion I Project Management Board, the National Action Center for Toxic Chemicals and Environmental Treatment (NACCET), the Medical Committee Netherlands-Vietnam (MCNV), and the implementing partner, the Center for Creative Initiatives in Health and Population (CCIHP).

This visit was part of the project's 2022–2025 progress monitoring activities, focusing on strengthening rehabilitation training and disability care capacity within Vietnam’s medical education institutions.

During the meeting, representatives from DUMTP—including Dr. Nguyen Minh Son (Vice Rector), Dr. Cao Bich Thuy (Deputy Head of the Office of Science, Technology Management and International Cooperation), Ms. Luong Thi Cam Van (Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Rehabilitation), Ms. Huynh Thi Ly (Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Nursing), along with lecturers and staff—held in-depth discussions on the implementation of rehabilitation training programs in partnership with MCNV.

On behalf of the Rehabilitation Faculty, Ms. Luong Thi Cam Van delivered a comprehensive report outlining the progress made since 2022. The presentation highlighted key developments in curriculum content, teaching methodologies, and the integration of practical training within communities. The delegation commended DUMTP’s proactive engagement, strong organizational capacity, and long-term commitment to developing high-quality rehabilitation human resources to meet the growing demand for recovery and disability care services in Vietnam.

Following the technical session, the delegation toured the university’s rehabilitation teaching and practice facilities. The site visit provided a clearer picture of the university’s training environment, technical resources, and real-world teaching capabilities. It also opened the door for further discussions on future directions, program enhancement, and technical collaboration.

Importantly, the findings from this monitoring visit will serve as a critical foundation for shaping upcoming technical assistance, curriculum updates, and expanded partnerships under the Inclusion I Project—ensuring continuity, scalability, and sustainability of project outcomes.

This visit reaffirmed the strong collaboration between DUMTP and its international partners in the field of rehabilitation. The university remains committed to sustainable development, practice-based education, and global integration. As a pioneer in applied medical education, DUMTP will continue to expand strategic partnerships and actively contribute to advancing healthcare workforce quality—especially in rehabilitation—to build an inclusive, equitable, and resilient health system for Vietnam’s future.
